This important cause was brought to our chapter’s attention in 2012 after our member Dr Annette Joe and her husband Dr. Lonnie Joe made the decision to donate their daughter, Kristen’s, organs and tissues to people awaiting the gift of life.

Today, Dr. Joe helps honor her daughter's memory by serving as a Board Member for the Detroit MOTTEP Foundation Board and also on the Gift of Life Michigan Governing Board.

Over 40% of those awaiting a kidney transplant in Michigan are African American, according to MOTTEP.
